It's Time...

"Remember Lot's wife."
-Luke 17:32

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

It's the rear view mirror on our life, the thing that holds us hostage in the hallways of the past till we're lost in the labyrinth of time gone by, the ashes of opportunities lost, the illusion of a life not lived

Regret is the riptide that sucks us into the undertow of tearful remorse and restless ruminations

It halts forward momentum, freezes us in our tracks, puts our dreams for the future on hold, and taints our appreciation of the present

It's a stalemate between then and now

It's the siren song that entices our attention from the business at hand, i.e. Living

Yes, there is "a time to weep" and "a time to mourn", but there is also a time to heal, a time to laugh, a time to dance, a time to build, a time to reap...

...and there is a time to Live..............

.....Time to get on with your Living.....

"Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind"
-Philippians 3:13-15

  1. Oh, a story I love. It's so haunting... yet so practical a lesson.

I love how you embrace the little points of a story and then unravel them into something more vast and applicable.

  2. We spend to much time in the past and the future and not enough in the present.....thanks for reminding me.......

    Awesome words you've written today....

  3. You know, it always strikes me how wise your posts are. I love that. Thank you for the encouragement.

  4. Oh wow oh wow oh wow!
Such vivid pictures so beautifully painted!
    I love this.
It makes me feel defiant against the ugliness
and me a shot of B-12 for my soul and a rush of HOPE in the face of "what if"s...
I'm SO glad you wrote this.
And the picture of the rear view mirror.
My heart is standing up on tiptoe
Yes. Yes. Yes. very much needed tonight.
May come back for another dip in the morning:)

  5. thanks guys, really, thanks......

  6. Thank you so much. I spend a great deal of time looking back and reflecting. I don't think there's a day of my life, where I haven't once considered a day in the past. Good thing I look at the present and future too. I've clung to the past because the future is too painful for me to consider as I see those I've loved, leave this earth one by one. Knowing what's to come for my parents (85 and 80) and finding comfort in the present and the past.
As usual though, you help me to reflect on this in a new light. Thanks. ♥

  7. I love the words you used. Your heart speaks well and true. I hope you are okay, my friend.
