Glorious Humanity...

"So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them."
-Genesis 1:27

We are God's divine design, His very special people, fearfully and wonderfully made, skillfully wrought in His image, the culmination of creation.

As to how many days elapsed between that sixth climactic day and the day of man's demise, we cannot be sure, but we do know that the Father's face fell, and that His crestfallen countenance was mirrored in man; the decline of Deity displacing the Glory of God.

Thus began the recreation of creation, the redemption of mankind.  The God Who made man in His image, made Himself in our image, the Master became the Servant, the One Who had made His likeness our own, came in the likeness of men.

In an act of humility that verges on hyperbole, our Creator condescended to His own creation; Jesus made the first move and reached out to us, because He knew in our fallen state, we could no longer reach Him, and Heaven's heart could not bear such separation.

The One Who made man in His image, came in our image, to resurrect His image in us, and return us to Glory.

"...Jesus, Who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men."
-Philippians 2:6-7

"But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.
For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings."
-Hebrews 2:9-10

H,
There are elements of this post that remind me of one of my all-time-favorites of yours -- Fuzzy Math. I'm finding I cannot seem to let go of what you call "God's economy" -- weakness is strength, servitude is freedom, the poor are rich. This stuff is really working on my soul.

And today you mention God's humility. I just LOVE that.

You're on to something BIG here, H. Something that our society needs more than ever. And I hope we all begin to get it before it's too late. Lord knows I am far from perfect, but thanks to you, I might be starting to get it. Now I need to quit thinking about it and start doing a better job of acting about it.

Once again, thanks for the brilliant reminder.

I love these lines.

You're walk has shed light on my path as well, Dan...definitely mutual here, which I guess is what it's supposed to be, right? "Iron sharpening iron" and all...

.....I think every person that we encounter meaningfully brings a little more balance to our perspective of Him...

...thanks for your eyes, D....
